Polished Peplum

Peplum is one of the more difficult SS12 trends to put into practice. It's not flattering, it's very easy to look like a Miss Marple extra and it gets crushed on public transport. But don't despair... It can be done.

Here are 3 different peplummy looks for you to sink your teeth into. Get experimenting!

1. Top. Wear this ASOS Sleeveless Top With Peplum And Geo Print with denim shorts or straight leg turn-up jeans, add these gorgeous Office Cannes T-Bar Sandals and a grey clutch and you have a perfect daytime look. Add a statement necklace and it will take you through to night.

2. Skirt. Peplum skirts can actually be really flattering, especially if they are also pencil. This black ASOS Pencil Skirt with Peplum Waist is perfect for a polished evening look. Team it with a simple white tee, this ASOS Silk Cord And Looped Statement Collar and some killer heels and you will ooze up-to-the-minute peplum style. Throw a sporty-look lightweight jacket over the top for extra edge.

3. Dress. While I was looking for the perfect dress to showcase, I came across the Warehouse range which has lots of gorgeous dresses for SS12. Here are the best two peplums... The Floral Peplum Dress is an easy jersey wear dress that will take you through the summer and can be worn at all sorts of events, dressed up with heels and a clutch or down with sandals and a sporty jacket. The colours are lovely and it covers not only the peplum trend but florals too! It's a winner. Speaking of which, my next example also brings in 2 trends as it brings peplum together with lace. The Warehouse Bonded Lace Dress is stunning. Match it with nude heels and rock this look with sophisticated ease.

See, it's not as difficult as it may appear... I think that despite the criticism that this trend has had, Peplum is worth the effort in getting it right!
